About Our Church

At La Veta United Methodist Church, we believe faith is not about pretending to be perfect - it is about learning to live in the grace, love, and hope of Jesus Christ together.

We are ordinary people trying to follow an extraordinary Savior. Some of us come with deep faith. Some come with questions. Some come carrying joy, grief, doubt, hope, or exhaustion. Whoever you are and wherever you are on your journey, you are welcome here.

Jesus reminds us in John 13:34, "Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another." That simple and challenging call shapes who we strive to be as a church. We believe God's love is meant to be shared - through worship, prayer, kindness, service, forgiveness, laughter, and walking alongside one another through real life.

We also hold onto the promise of Romans 3:23-24: "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God; they are now justified by his grace as a gift." We are not a church of perfect people. We are a church learning day by day what it means to receive grace and extend grace.

At La Veta UMC, all are welcome. No matter your background, age, questions, story, struggles, or where you find yourself in life, there is a place for you here. We believe every person is created in the image of God and deeply loved by God.

As part of the United Methodist tradition, we believe in open hearts, open minds, and open doors. We gather to worship God, study Scripture, serve our neighbors, and encourage one another in faith.

Pastor Lisa brings a warm, conversational, and grace-filled approach to ministry, believing that church should be a place where people can be honest about life and discover that God is still present in the middle of it. Worship at La Veta UMC is rooted in Scripture, grounded in grace, and connected to everyday life.
